RTL Belgium has appointed François Fyon as media audio director, effective Thursday, Oct. 1. In the role, he will lead the company’s audio operations, including Bel RTL and Radio Contact. He will succeed Frédéric Herbays, who is leaving the company to pursue new projects.
Fyon brings almost 30 years of experience in the radio industry, having held editorial, strategic and management roles in Belgium and France, including senior leadership positions at Europe 2 and RFM. RTL Belgium has tasked him with strengthening and further developing the group’s audio business.
“I started my professional radio career with Bel RTL almost 30 years ago, so this is a bit like returning to where it all began,” Fyon said. “Coming back to my roots fills me with pride and gives me tremendous energy. Throughout my career, I have had the opportunity to understand every aspect of radio and to help develop strong brands with distinctive identities in both Belgium and France. I look forward to bringing that experience to the RTL Belgium teams and strengthening our audio brands at a time when listening habits, content and audience expectations are evolving at the speed of sound.”
Herbays hands over responsibility as RTL Belgium’s radio brands continue to perform strongly. Radio Contact has posted record audience figures, while Bel RTL has maintained its positive momentum. “I’m proud of what we have achieved together with the RTL Belgium radio teams,” Herbays said. “These excellent results are the best recognition of the hard work and daily commitment shown by everyone involved.”
Guillaume Collard, chief executive officer of RTL Belgium, welcomed Fyon’s appointment and thanked Herbays for his contribution. “François brings extensive radio expertise, strategic vision and strong leadership qualities that will help us achieve our ambitions in audio,” Collard said. “I also want to sincerely thank Frédéric for his passion and dedication over the past three years. He has strengthened our brands and helped prepare them for the future.”
