The Solutioneers 2025/2026 builds resilience for a changing industry
Lawo has announced a co-op program with the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers for in-depth training for “professionals to master next-generation IP workflows using SMPTE ST 2110 standards and cutting-edge technology.”
In case your name is Van Winkle, IP-based digital video usage is only going to grow, even for radio professionals, and familiarity with SMPTE ST 2110 is going to be de rigeur.
Wim Van Roy, Educational Architect at Lawo and 2025 Education Director at SMPTE explained, “The transition to IP is one of the most significant evolutions in broadcast technology. By partnering with SMPTE and the wider industry, to deliver this Practical Lab, we’re empowering professionals to confidently design and operate ST 2110 workflows — supporting the industry’s future towards Dynamic Media Facilities powered by SMPTE ST 2110 standards.”
The education pathway is four-part; note some work involves visiting Lawo’s headquarters in Rastatt, Germany, for hands-on training.
First is the “Introduction to SMPTE ST 2110.” Second is “Understanding SMPTE ST 2110.” Third gets the hands dirty with “SMPTE ST 2110 Boot Camp.” And finally comes the “Practical Lab” where the lessons are put to use.
