Tieline to ship MPX II in January

Tieline says it will start shipping its new MPX II codec in January 2024.

Tieline’s MPX codecs deliver composite FM MPX codec solutions for real-time network distribution of FM-MPX or compressed MicroMPX signals to transmitter sites. The MPX II easily transports two discrete composite FM-MPX signals from the studio to transmitters with real-time return monitoring. The codec supports analog MPX on BNC, MPX over AES192 and multipoint signal distribution to deliver a wide range of flexible composite encoder and decoder solutions for unique applications.

The MPX II optional satellite tuner card

“The MPX II streamlines FM radio broadcasting by allowing broadcasters to maintain baseband audio processing and RDS data insertion at the studio,” said Charlie Gawley, vice president of sales for APAC and EMEA. “This slashes capital and operational costs by eliminating equipment from transmitter sites. Furthermore, support for both analog and digital composite MPX signals allows broadcasters to transition from analog to digital exciters over time and maximize the value of their MPX investment.”

The multi-award-winning MPX II can send the full uncompressed FM signal or high-quality compressed µMPX at significantly lower bit rates. An optional satellite tuner card with MPEG-TS and MPE support can receive DVB-S or DVB-S2 signals.

Broadcasters can easily replicate and distribute composite MPX over IP signals using multicast and multi-unicast technologies and take advantage of solid redundancy features like redundant streaming, RIST, FEC and automated SD card file failover.

Broadcasters interested in the MPX II can contact their favorite dealer or Tieline sales. Tieline says it will announce a shipping date for the MPX I codec in the new year.
