As remote production continues to reshape broadcast workflows, commentary units are increasingly expected to combine flexibility, IP integration and ease of deployment in a single compact device. AEQ says its Olympia 3 addresses this space as a digital AoIP commentary unit designed for live sports and other events in distributed production scenarios.
The system is intended to operate both as a standalone unit and as part of a wider IP-based infrastructure, allowing it to adapt to different levels of production complexity. At its core, Olympia 3 integrates a local mono or stereo mixer with routing and processing tools, enabling commentators to manage their own audio independently when required.
From a technical standpoint, the unit supports Dante and AES67 networking and includes an internal three-port Gigabit Ethernet switch, facilitating direct integration with AoIP-based broadcast systems. It also provides multiple microphone inputs with 48V phantom power, headphone outputs for monitoring, and onboard audio processing such as EQ, filtering and dynamics control.
Remote configuration and control capabilities further enhance its suitability for fast-deployment scenarios where reliability and operational simplicity are essential.
