Latvian technology company Spotwise.ai has launched a free public platform that monitors political radio advertising activity in the country in real time, as campaigning intensifies ahead of upcoming elections.
The platform provides data on political radio advertising, including the number of ads, estimated advertising spend, total airtime, audience reach, language breakdown and campaign activity over time. Users can access ad transcripts, compare different campaigns, track placements across radio stations and view sponsored programming and informational segments.
Spotwise says the platform also aggregates broader market data, allowing users to examine trends in ad volume, estimated spending and communication channels used by political campaigns.
“In a democratic state, political campaigns should be as transparent as possible. The radio advertising market has historically been something of a ‘black box’ for the public — until now, only a limited circle could see which political ads were being placed, how often they aired and what audience they reached,” Spotwise said.
“We believe this information should be available to everyone. The more transparent political advertising is, the more informed the public is, and the more effective the work of oversight bodies can be.”
The system uses AI technology to analyze publicly available radio broadcasts, identify advertisements and compile campaign data across Latvian radio stations. The company notes that spending figures shown on the platform are estimates based on advertising rates registered with Latvia’s National Electronic Mass Media Council and may differ from actual transaction values.
Latvia is the first market in which Spotwise has launched its public political ad monitoring service. The company says it plans to introduce the platform in the 14 European markets where it operates ahead of future elections, depending on local regulatory requirements and market reception.
Alongside the political monitoring service, Spotwise has also launched a self-service platform for advertisers and agencies to analyze their own and competitors’ radio campaigns, including ad intensity, market activity and audience reach.
