Nautel launches training center, schedules 2026 RF sessions

Nautel says it has opened a new Training Center at its Hackett’s Cove, Nova Scotia headquarters and has scheduled two RF training sessions for 2026.

According to the company, each three-day course will cover FM transmitters, AM transmitters and RF technology fundamentals. The sessions will be held at the new facility, which Nautel says was completed in the autumn of 2025.

John Wilton, head of customer service at Nautel, said the company is responding to what he described as an “aging out” of broadcast engineers and a resulting gap in RF knowledge.

“Many new engineers are coming in from the IT sector or straight from school,” Wilton said. “Modern transmitters are software-intensive, to be sure, but usually those new engineers don’t have a background in transmitter and RF technology. The SBE is addressing this with new training sessions at NAB, and we are hoping to complement those sessions with practical, hands-on experience here at Nautel.”

Wilton said the new Training Center is designed to enable direct, hands-on transmitter operation. “The doors to this Center are large enough to bring in some transmitters, and those transmitters are fully operational,” he said. “For the larger power demonstrations, the group moves downstairs to one of our labs. This is an opportunity to see the results of parameter adjustments, obtain real-time measurements, and learn safety practices. We’ll also offer ‘tips and tricks’ for keeping transmitters running smoothly.”

Nautel says each session is priced at $1,800 U.S. and qualifies for SBE re-certification credits. Wilton said the courses are intended to be comparable to an introductory college-level class and are aimed at engineers new to RF.

The 2026 sessions are scheduled for June 14–17 and Sept. 14–16.
