Italy’s Veneto DAB starts experimental transmissions

Italy’s Veneto DAB consortium, a local DAB+ network operator and member of the country’s local radio and TV association Aeranti-Corallo, has started experimental transmissions. Aeranti-Corallo is a partnership between two associations, Aeranti and Corallo.

Veneto DAB operates on the 8B frequency with a transmitter in Terranegra in Padua, Northeast Italy.

Elena Porta, Veneto DAB’s director, expressed satisfaction with the transmissions, adding, “the entire local digital radio system could be up and running as soon as possible.”

Aeranti-Corallo’s coordinator, Marco Rossignoli, said, “We hope that the Ministry for Enterprise and Made in Italy will now start the administrative procedures as soon as possible to assign definitive rights to use all DAB+ frequencies in each technical area envisaged by the National Plan of Frequencies Attribution.”

Rossignoli added, “There are many local radio stations within the Aeranti-Corallo associative system interested in DAB+ and which have been preparing for this technological transition for some time.”

Twenty local radio stations are currently part of Veneto DAB’s experimental transmissions: Radio 80, Radio Asiago, Radio Bella & Monella, Radio Birikina, Radio Company, Radio Cortina, Radio Gelosa, Radio Marilù, Radio Onda Sette, Radio Padova, Radio Palazzo Carli, Radio Piave, Radio Piterpan, Radio Sorrriso, Radio Sound, Radio Verona, Radio Vita, Radio Voce Nel Deserto, Radio Wow 2 and Stella FM.
