One of the most enjoyable trade shows is the NAMM show in Anaheim, Calif., aimed at the music community. Not only do attendees get to see the latest in musical instruments but actual celebrities and musical artists can be bumped into in the aisles. Plus, if you know the right people, there are some great private, invitation-only, concerts.
Speaker maker Genelec will be at the show, Booth 15500, North Level 1 at the Anaheim Convention Center, demonstrating Genelec speakers, along with many notable sound engineering and recording professionals conducting master classes.
The presenters include Richard Chycki (Rush, Dream Theater, Aerosmith, Mick Jagger), Bob Clearmountain (Bruce Springsteen, Bryan Adams, David Bowie, The Cure, INXS), John Hanes (Adele, Taylor Swift, Kelly Clarkson, Teddy Riley), Sylvia Massy (Black Crowes, Prince, Tool, System of a Down, Red Hot Chili Peppers), Michael Romanowski (Alicia Keys, Bonnie Raitt, Lyle Lovett, Earth, Wind & Fire), Alan Meyerson (Hans Zimmer, James Newton Howard, Harry Gregson-Williams, Daft Punk) and a 3D audio masterclass with Thomas Lund.
Genelec will have a multichannel surround/immersive audio setup featuring, according to the announcement, “Genelec 8380As for left and right, W371/8361A for center, 8351Bs for sides (LS, RS), 8351B for rear surrounds (LrS, RrS) and four 8341As for overheads, plus two 7380A subwoofers for the LFE channel…”
The show runs Jan. 20–24.
