Audio advertising and data platform Audiohook acquired Podscan, an AI-powered podcast monitoring platform that ingests, transcribes and analyzes more than 70,000 episodes each day. The transaction closed Aug. 24.
Following the acquisition, Audiohook made most of Podscan’s podcast intelligence available at no cost. Creators, podcast networks and publishers can access transcripts, brand-suitability analysis and contextual segments for the shows they represent. At the same time, advertisers can monitor where brands are mentioned and examine the context and sentiment surrounding those references.
Podscan evaluates podcast content for brand suitability, contextual categories, brand mentions and sentiment. Audiohook said the platform’s scale could give advertisers greater insight into where they invest and help publishers understand how their content is categorized and assessed.
Audiohook CEO Jordan Bentley pointed to the acquisition as a way to improve transparency across podcast advertising. “The more transparency and information we can put into the hands of brands, creators, networks and publishers, the more confidently everyone can make decisions, and the stronger the podcast ecosystem becomes,” he said.
Podscan founder Arvid Kahl joined Audiohook to oversee the platform’s technical transition and future development. “Joining Audiohook gives us the resources and expertise to accelerate the roadmap, expand the platform’s capabilities and build things that would have taken us much longer to accomplish independently,” he said.
Podscan by Audiohook is now live, with free accounts available through the platform’s website. Audiohook said it planned to continue developing the service following the integration.
