AEQ introduces Colombian students to IP tech

Inside LAUD 90.4FM, the campus radio station of Francisco José de Caldas University in Bogotá, Colombia

Francisco José de Caldas University in Bogotá, Colombia, has been training journalism students from all over the country since 1948. Broadcast journalism students complete their training as interns on an actual radio station — LAUD 90.4FM, which broadcasts across the campus and online.

The radio station recently renovated its studios to digital using AEQ technology, installing a 20-fader Forum IP Split digital console with 64 Dante channels. The console allows the students to practise with a proper broadcast console and acquire the appropriate technical skills to enter the professional market. The console incorporates all the essential features needed in broadcast environments: automatic monitor cut, cough cut, fader start and controlling signals for automating and managing external equipment and communications.

The installation included AEQ’s Forum Screen software, which allows an extended graphic display of the use parameters, and the Virtual software, which allows remote control.

Completing the system is the Netbox 4MH interface for increased performance, providing high-quality microphone inputs and headphone outputs via an IP network over Dante protocol.

AEQ says the project would not have been possible without the help of solutions provider Avcom and further integration with Merge.
