WorldDAB Honors Francis Goffin for Outstanding Service

WorldDAB has honored Francis Goffin for his “outstanding service” in promoting the DAB+ digital radio standard in Belgium.

Francis Goffin receives the WorldDAB 2020 award for outstanding service.

Goffin has worked in the radio industry for more than four decades, creating, managing and advising radio stations. According to WorldDAB, since 2011 he has dedicated his efforts to “help bring together Belgium’s French-speaking radio industry and facilitate a digital distribution of radio, with DAB+ at the heart of a multiplatform hybrid strategy.”

In 2013, he led RTBF (Radio-télévision belge de la Communauté française) together with the main private radio stations to create maRadio.be, a digital radio alliance promoting Radioplayer.be and DAB+ in Belgium’s French-speaking regions.

Goffin has been a member of the WorldDAB steering board since 2013.

“I am truly delighted and honored. This award also celebrates the entire Belgian radio sector, which has collectively embarked on the digital migration from FM to DAB+ with great enthusiasm,” Goffin said of the award.

“It also honors the maRadio.be team. They’ve ensured — with the support of public authorities — the successful implementation and promotion of DAB+ across the Wallonia-Brussels Federation of Belgium since the official launch of DAB+ on Nov. 4, 2019, exactly one year ago.”
