The recent WorldDAB Automotive gathering in Paris has concluded. One highlight according to the organizers was the pitch that DAB+ is “reaching maturity.”

WorldDAB President and product evangelist Patrick Hannon said that “96% of new cars sold within the European Union came with DAB+.” That would lead to 10 million new DAB+-receiving vehicle on the road in 2022, according to a release. Hannon thought that was leading to a transformation of the “radio landscape.”

He pointed to the UK where, according to a release, “for the first time, DAB now accounts for more than 50% of all radio listening in cars.”

The show also presented the findings of a commissioned car radio listenership study from Edison Research.

According to a release, the 2023 WorldDAB Automotive conference was attended by 500 delegates from over 60 countries.

Hannon also announced that the 2023 WorldDAB Summit will be in Munich, Nov. 8.

For those wanting to know more about the conference, WorldDAB is making some of the presentations available.
