Triton releases U.S. Podcast Report for May

Triton Digital has published the U.S. podcasting stats for the May 2021 reporting period (May 3–30). This is the first podcast report to distribute after Triton’s implementation of the latest version (v2.1) of the IAB Tech Lab’s Podcast Measurement Technical Guidelines, the company said.

The Top Network Reports are ranked by Average Weekly Downloads and Average Weekly Users, in accordance with the updated guidelines. In May, Stitcher Media advanced to the top spot with 35.3 million Average Weekly Downloads and 9 million Average Weekly Users, followed by NPR with 35.1 million Average Weekly Downloads and 7 million Average Weekly Users. Audacy Podcast Network ranked third with 18 million Average Weekly Downloads and 6 million Average Weekly Users.

The Top Podcasts are also ranked by both Average Weekly Downloads and Average Weekly Users. NPR News Now remained in the prime spot for this reporting period. Other leading podcasts by Average Weekly Downloads include Crime Junkie (audiochuck), Up First (NPR), The Ben Shapiro Show (Cumulus Podcast Network) and Dateline NBC (NBCUniversal News Group).

Leading podcasts by Average Weekly Users include NPR News Now (NPR), Up First (NPR), The Ben Shapiro Show (Cumulus Podcast Network) and Dateline NBC (NBCUniversal News Group). Crime Junkie (audiochuck) took the first position this reporting period.
