The Building Blocks of RF Transmission

Elenos Quick Block

More than five years in the making, Elenos Group has launched a new concept in RF transmitter technology at NAB 2023 (booth W3330).

Quick Block is a completely modular approach which features two types of software programmable modules to create an infinite number of transmitter types in a variety of formats, such as FM, HD Radio or DRM+. Its configurable nature supports a wide range of redundancy solutions such as dual drive, single drive, 1+1, N+1, reserve modules.

The Quick Block hardware is also modular, which Elenos Groups says enables customers to adapt its format and design to meet custom requirements. The hot-swappable building blocks slide into a 3U chassis that can house up to five Quick Blocks; add more for more redundancy, for more power, features or formats.

Quick Block has an independent power source and control system to ensure the transmitter remains on the air at near full power should a module be removed.

On show at NAB 2023 are the Quick Block hot-swap amp and exciter/drive modules, as well as 5kW, 10kW, and 50kW versions. Fitting into a single rack space, which the company claims is the smallest footprint on the market for such high power. Quick Block can be configured to use the same blocks for a single transmitter or an entire network.

“This is just the beginning: we are now releasing FM radio models but the Quick Block platform is applicable to Digital TV, DAB+, AM and other vertical markets as scientific applications,” says Luca Buscherini, Group Commercial Director.

Quick Block also features a software-defined modulator and native IP inputs, giving broadcasters an out-of-the-box solution to simplify the connection of multimedia services via a local- or wide-area IP network.

“QuickBlock is the culmination of over five years of development by engineers operating across multiple continents with over 200 years of combined experience,” adds Leonardo Busi, founder and CEO of Elenos Group.
