WorldCast Systems has completed the global rollout of APTmpX v2, confirming the format’s successful establishment in the broadcast market. The enhanced MPX/composite transport technology is now fully integrated across the entire APT codec range.
A key enhancement of APTmpX v2 is the integration of RDS transport. The format carries the 57 kHz RDS subcarrier directly within the multiplex signal, alongside synchronized RDS/RBDS data. The stable stereo pilot ensures consistent subcarrier performance, while RDS blocks are transmitted with minimal overhead at the nominal bitrate. The architecture is prepared for evolving standards such as RDS2.
APTmpX v2 is fully implemented in APTmpX Software for Windows, the Virtual APT IP Codec and the complete hardware portfolio. The integrated decoder in the Ecreso FM AiO Series transmitters also supports APTmpX v2 — including operation in FM single-frequency networks (SFN).
Its efficient IP packet structure, comparable to linear PCM-over-IP, ensures robust transmission even in demanding network conditions. Stable bitrates remain a critical advantage for satellite and metered IP links. Multiple operating modes enable broadcasters to optimize bandwidth usage without compromising signal transparency.
