TASCAM to release Mixcast 4 firmware update

TASCAM is releasing a firmware update for the Mixcast 4 Podcast Station audio mini mixer with built-in recorder/USB audio interface. With the new upcoming V1.30 firmware update, the Mixcast 4 gains a boost in its feature set, resulting in enhanced audio production functionality.

The update adds level adjustment for each of the Mixcast 4’s eight soundpads. Now, each pad, including the preassigned Bleep tone, can have its own user-defined output level for volume. This new function gives users complete control over the soundpad mix to create a well-balanced podcast.

Another inclusion in the update allows users to switch between sound pad banks while recording. The TASCAM Mixcast 4 has an eight-pad x eight-bank matrix that allows 64 sounds to sit in the sound pads. Users can now change these banks in record mode, thus facilitating access to all 64 sounds during recording.

The v1.30 firmware update also includes a normalizing function for soundpad sources. The Mixcast 4 will automatically set the optimum audio level.

A welcome addition is the expansion of the talkback output to the USB, Bluetooth and TRRS connections in addition to the headphone outputs. The talkback function is a particularly useful feature that enables the host to talk to podcast participants privately. Previously, this was limited to the Mixcast 4’s four headphone outputs. With the v1.30 update, users can allow participants to hear talkback even while connected via USB, Bluetooth and the TRRS 3.5 mm input.

TASCAM says it will release the firmware update later this month here.
