Starwaves Releases DRM Digital Radio App

Starwaves DRM App

Starwaves, a German developer and distributor of radio receiver technologies, has developed a DRM receiver app for Android. The “Starwaves DRM SoftRadio” app allows phones and tablets to receive news and entertainment items in sound and text using the terrestrial broadcasting DRM digital radio standard.

The app provides listeners with access to all the essential radio features of the standard, across all DRM digital transmission bands: shortwave, medium wave, FM and VHF band-III. It also supports many DRM digital radio features such as the Emergency Warning Functionality, Journaline, image slideshows, station logos and radio program service descriptions.

It requires a standard off-the-shelf SDR RF dongle attached to the device’s USB port. The dongle accesses DRM broadcasts independent of Internet connectivity.

The app supports multiple user interface languages (Unicode-based), so it can be used in a variety of countries.

Starwaves DRM SoftRadio is available in the Amazon Apps and Google Play stores.
