SBE Ennes Workshop scheduled ahead of the NAB Show

NAB Show, SBE Ennes Workshop

One of the highlights of the NAB Show, if you are an early arrival, is the Society of Broadcast Engineers annual Ennes Workshop, this year April 12–13, over in the Las Vegas Convention Center’s West Hall. Featuring two days of informative sessions ranging from basic “Boot Camps” to specifications and equipment breakdowns to engineering and managerial practices to discussions of technology current and coming, the SBE Ennes Workshop is popular for broadcast radio and TV engineers.

Presenters range from broadcast engineers to consultants to representatives of equipment manufacturers and service providers. Checking out the lineup for the two days reveals a lot of well-respected names including those from companies such as Nautel, StreamGuys, Telos Alliance, Wheatstone, WorldCast Systems, MaxxKonnect, StreamS/Modulation Index, Rohde & Schwarz, Shively, Amazon Web Services, Motorola, Panasonic, Evertz, Ross Video and WireCAD.

A leading subject in this year’s workshop is IP technology and practice with almost a dozen sessions looking at it from all angles and applications; mostly as part of the “Media Over IP Essentials” group.

SBE explains, “Media Over IP (MoIP) Essentials introduces the essentials of IP-delivered media, covering video and audio implementations. Individuals involved with non-broadcast media delivery, whether a house of worship, post-production facility or as an audio-visual professional will also benefit from grounding in the installation and maintenance of modern non-analog facilities.”

The other track is the RF 101 Bootcamp. It “is designed to give those with a predominantly IT-oriented background the foundational information regarding transmission methods and equipment so that they can effectively function in these disciplines.”
