Germany-based transmission products specialist RFmondial recently ventured to Malaysia to swap out an old DRM exciter for Radio Televisyen Malaysia at their long-operating Kajang transmission site.
Out goes a DMOD3 exciter from no longer-in-business Transradio and in goes an RFmondial LVe. RFmondial says that “LVe has been designed exactly for this specific task so that upgrading older transmitters is still possible and preventing the need to invest in a new transmitter.”
The company adds, “The LVe is a fully digital broadcast exciter, tuneable within the longwave, medium-wave and shortwave frequency bands as well as in VHF. Furthermore, it meets the demanding performance requirements of DRM broadcasts as well as pure analog AM and simulcast transmissions.”
The LVe is now feeding a Continental analog shortwave transmitter and providing a digital upgrade path for future operations.
RFmondial pointed to a business opportunity, “This installation queues into the aim of RFmondial to be the world-leading company in upgrading existing high-power transmitter installations of various makes and models like RIZ, Continental Electronics, Transradio, Thomson, or GatesAir.
