RedTech RadioWeek 2024 sets decision-making agenda

It’s apt that RedTech’s RadioWeek is the first major industry event every year. In many ways, it sets the agenda for what will dominate the strategies of the industry’s key decision-makers from around the world. RadioWeek allows them to exchange ideas and see what others are thinking. The fact that RadioWeek is exclusively online and for only an hour each day — 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. CET — means you can clear your calendar for some constructive me-time and be part of the event from the comfort of your office or home.

This year is typical of what RadioWeek is all about. The first four days are dedicated to discussing some of the biggest concerns for radio broadcasters; on the final day, we go big.

Day 1 on Jan. 29 deals with how radio broadcasters can secure their place in the dash of the connected car, where technology has evolved exponentially, inviting significantly more competition but also offering opportunities hitherto only dreamed about. We’ll explore the evolving landscape of in-car media, how to make the in-vehicle experience simpler, smarter, safer, and more enjoyable, how to leverage the new technologies to engage audiences in this new multimedia environment, and how data analytics can provide unique insights into listening behavior.

Day 2 on Jan. 30 focuses on what keeps many a CEO and CTO up at night: How to protect their digital operations. We’ve lined up some heavy-hitters in this field who will share insights in risk management, including staff training, and how best to recover from an online attack. They’ll also touch on peer collaboration — we may compete on the dial, but we have a common threat.

Day 3 on Jan. 31 gets creative — we toy with the studio of the future. We’ll challenge current ideas about what such a studio will look like — what’s necessary and what’s expendable — and consider the all-important costs to build and operate such a studio. We’ll tap into the insights of teams building studios today with an eye on tomorrow’s radio broadcast operations.

Day 4 on Feb. 1 addresses the rampant elephant in the room: AI. It’s here, it’s real, and it will be a critical component of radio operations from here on. The issue is not how we will use it technically but how we will use it ethically. This session will discuss ethical concerns and consider the necessary guidelines for responsible use.

As promised, on the last day, we go big and reach out even further afar. Feb. 2 is set aside for exploring UNESCO’s World Radio Day on Feb. 13. We’ll hear from major voices from UNESCO and regional radio bodies from Europe, Asia, and the Caribbean and reflect on radio’s role in society.

RedTech RadioWeek 2024 is from Monday, Jan. 29 to Friday, Feb. 2, between 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. CET each day, and registration for any or every day is free. You can learn more about the speakers and the topics for each day and register here.
