Radio TechCon Launches Two Bursary Schemes

Radio TechCon, taking place virtually on Monday Nov. 30 has announced the addition of two bursary schemes.

Organizers say this initiative aims to support both individuals and companies facing financial and personal barriers to attend industry events.

The first scheme, the Individual Bursary is open to anyone who is based in the United Kingdom and who feels under-represented in broadcast engineering. Or to those who are facing a financial barrier to attending Radio TechCon. There are 10 Individual Bursary places available.

To apply, fill out this form on the website, explaining how attending Radio TechCon will benefit you. And how you will give back by passing on the knowledge to others. The closing date is midnight local time on Saturday Oct. 31.

The second program is the Organization Bursary. It aims at supporting grass-roots organizations in radio. Organizers explain that the Community Media Association, Student Radio Association and Sound Women Network will receive three free tickets each. Applicants for an Organization Bursary place will need to contact the CMA, SRA or SWN directly.

A panel of industry representatives will select winners and Radio Techcon says it’ll let applicants know the results by Friday Nov. 6 at the latest.

The organization highlights that it’s reserving 10% of all places for bursary recipients, as it strives for a more diverse, accessible and inclusive sector. “This is also a way to thank the generosity of Lead Bursary Sponsor Cleanfeed and supporters Bauer Media, Wireless, Togglebit, Ann Charles Media, Clockhouse Media and two anonymous donors,” it stated.

With Broadcast Bionics as the main sponsor, Radio TechCon focuses on radio, audio, broadcast engineering and technology.
