Radio TechCon 2022 announces first sessions

Radio TechCon — the United Kingdom-based radio and audio industry annual technical and engineering event — has announced its first sessions as tickets go on sale. The one-day conference is back in person at IET London: Savoy Place on Monday, Nov. 28.

Sessions revealed so far include:

  • Staying on air. The session will include a live link-up to broadcast engineers keeping radio on the air in Ukraine, plus what every broadcaster needs to think about in times of war.
  • Adding neurodivergence to the mix — what audio experiences are autistic listeners seeking? The session will discuss how audio content producers can create for neurodivergent audiences.
  • Pictures on the radio — a team from TalkTV will discuss how radio broadcasters can build a TV station using radio equipment.
  • Adaptive podcasting — how to give an audience a different version of the same show using their phones in real-time.
  • World Radio Congress. The radio spectrum is up for grabs internationally; this session will explain how broadcasters can ensure they aren’t affected by the proposed changes.

Ann Charles, from organizers TBC Media, says, “It’s wonderful to be back in person after two years of being online due to Covid-19. We’re so excited to showcase the amazing innovation and creativity of the broadcast engineering community. If you want to know where the future of our industry is headed — you need to be here!”

Charles adds that delegates can meet representatives from sponsors Broadcast Bionics, Arqiva, the IET, LAWO, Broadcast Radio, RCS, CGI, Preco and Nomono during the breaks and enjoy an evening drinks reception.

Tickets are £175 + VAT, with discounts for members of the Radio Academy (and its affiliate members, such as the Community Media Association and Student Radio Association) and members of the IET.
