Radio TechCon Announces First Sessions for 2021 Virtual Event

This year’s Radio TechCon – the UK radio and audio industry’s technology and engineering event – takes place on Monday, Nov. 29. Due to the ongoing uncertainties of the pandemic, the conference will again be in a live, interactive virtual format.

Topics announced so far include:

  • Attracting new talent to technology – how can radio and audio companies compete for recruits when up against the lure of companies like Facebook and Google? And how do they retain the technical talent they already have?
  • South Africa’s digital plans are intriguing. Why is it choosing DRM when the UK and much of Europe have embraced DAB and DAB+?
  • BBC Maker Box – the BBC R&D team offers free tools for creative technologists and producers. Delegates will see live demos of the latest technology.
  • Plus, Stephanie Hirst returns with the all-important Radio TechCon interactive quiz, and, yes, there will be prizes.

All delegates will receive eight hours of CPD credits, accredited by the IET.

“2021 has shown yet again how vital broadcast engineers and radio technology teams are to our industry. Stations simply would not be on air without their hard work, dedication and talent,” says Ann Charles, from organizers TBC Media Ltd. “We’re delighted that Radio TechCon has been able to continue its mission to bring the radio technology community together, as well as welcome anyone with a passion for radio, audio and technology.”
