Radio Marca relies on AEQ’s IP audio codecs

Radio Marca is a Spanish 24-hour sports radio station network founded in 2001 with origins in the sports newspaper Marca. The network broadcasts on FM, DAB, DTT and via the Internet from its website. Radio Marca has 52 stations, such as Radio Marca Barcelona, which has been broadcasting since 2004, in the most important cities in Spain, and its slogan is “Sport is ours.”

The station says that given the nature of its content — sports coverage from the stadiums, pavilions and sports venues — and the STL links between the numerous production studios and transmitter centers, its technical department needs a robust, reliable and easy-to-use audiocodec solution.

Radio Marca has been using AEQ technology from its founding and now uses the company’s Phoenix IP audio codecs, Stratos, Venus and Mercury units throughout its network. Radio Marca uses AEQ’s Alio equipment at the various stadia and has deployed more than 40 of the company’s Talent units with its journalists.

AEQ Talent is an ultra-compact portable IP audio codec that transmits a high-quality encoded audio channel from a microphone to remote equipment at the station and back to the user’s headset. It can also send a stereo signal from a 3.5 mm jack plug or Bluetooth A2DP connection or mix the microphone with the stereo signal.

Radio Marca technical manager Jose Luciano Nombela says the simplicity of use and small size makes it perfect for traveling with journalists in their suitcases to the most diverse sporting events in Spain and worldwide.
