Podcast Day 24

Updated 17 May 2021

Radiodays Europe has partnered with the British Podcast Awards and the Australian Podcast Awards to create a worldwide event – Podcast Day 24 — on June 7.

This conference is taking over from the original Podcast Day, which was created by Radiodays Europe. First held in Copenhagen in 2017 and 2018, it moved to London in 2019. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2020 London event became Podcast Day Online 2020. That edition brought together a large range of speakers and over 700 delegates.

Podcast Day 24 will be a 24-hour virtual gathering that starts in Australia with speakers and participants from the region and further afield. As that leg finishes in the early evening (Australian time), London will pick up the mantle with eight hours of talks, bringing together European podcast participants. As the U.K. wraps up, the North America leg will start with a diverse range of speakers from the continent.

The organizers recently announced that the Australian leg would be both in-person and online. The European and North American segments will be online-only.

A variety of industry speakers have signed up to participate, including Tolani Shoneye, Audrey Indome and Milena Sanchez (The Receipts); Fearne Cotton (Happy Place); and Knud Brix (Genstart (“Restart”). Also participating are Holly Bott (YMU Group); Tamar Charney (NPR); Neal Carruth (On-Demand News); James Cator (Spotify); Erik Diehn (Stitcher); Tom Webster (Edison Research); and Dan Maudsely (BBC Five Live).

In addition, the European leg will include sessions on WhatsApp, hyperlocal podcasting, membership and subscriptions and distribution on the open web.

North American organizers have added new speakers to the lineup, including Jeffrey Cranor, cowriter of Welcome to Night Vale and Within the Wires, and also Eric Nuzum, cofounder of Magnificent Noise

During the event, sponsors and exhibitors will also be demonstrating products and services. There are opportunities to network with other participants throughout the day with meet ups, masterclasses and workshops. Indie Spotlights, Fireside Chats and Podcast Day 24 Women are special sessions that give people and topics some extra focus.

Tickets to attend are £99 (€114) +VAT. Registrants can watch live (if you can stay up) or access the recordings afterwards.

Tickets that include the in-person event in Sydney are AUD$279+GST.
