AV digitizing and archiving specialist NOA GmbH will launch NOA Record 4.0 at IBC2023.
During the international event, Sept. 15–18, at the RAI convention center in Amsterdam, the company will spotlight its latest version of the multi-stream digitization and transcription software for analog and digital audio legacy sources with comprehensive transfer quality control.
Version 4.0 — an offshoot of NOARecord 3.0 — offers a host of new, innovative features designed to maximize archiving operations. With a QC-based ingest system that digitizes audio archives, Record 4.0 allows users to benefit from parallelization. This means that while previously, users needed to listen to each tape, they can now run multiple lines in parallel (typically four) and leave the listening task for the NOA analysis engine to manage. This will provide the operator with specific information regarding potential issues and problem zones.
“NOARecord 4.0, which is already available, enables throughput via software-assisted quality control transfer resulting in massive parallelization and reduced OPEX time for large-scale digitization,” explains Jean-Christophe Kummer, managing partner of NOA.
Optimal transfer quality
NOARecord 4.0 is suitable for various applications, including digitizing legacy archives that consist of vinyl, 78s, cassette tapes, Mini-DISCs, DAT and ¼-inch formats. The system comes either paired with a PICO system or bundled with NOA jobDB or NOA MediARC.
In addition, Record 4.0 features include optimal transfer quality control of analog and digital audio transfers. For example, for audio ¼-inch tape, the system uses azimuth control assistance via a software function. It also analyzes tape quality via tape light barrier (cuts, splices, leader tape). NOARecord 4.0 implements BLER analysis for DAT and C2 analysis for CD. Also new with NOARecord 4.0 is the usage of lane management to display several analysis functions simultaneously.
With NOARecord 4.0, technicians benefit from reduced OPEX, improved quality assessment through algorithmic analysis of the signal as well as transfer quality control at its best. Quicker review of quality results in faster workflow times and fast throughput.
“NOARecord 4.0 underlines our commitment to follow the IT evolution of the runtime environment and to include a suite of features that enhance the streamline of archiving workflows,” concluded Kummer.
