New RØDECaster Pro Firmware is Available in Beta

RodeCaster Pro

A new version of the RØDECaster Pro firmware is now available to download. Version 2.1.2 is currently in its beta stage of development, and RØDE is inviting users to put it through its paces.

The RØDECaster Pro can now be used as a USB MIDI controller. This feature, says the company, opens up a range of creative possibilities for podcasting and streaming, including DAW synchronisation in multitrack recording sessions, vision switching capabilities and more. The RØDECaster Pro Learning Hub offers more information on the new MIDI functionality, including detailed step-by-step guides for setting up two common use cases for podcasting and livestreaming.

The new beta version added two new sound pad modes to the usual Latch, Pause, Replay, Play, and Loop modes. A “Swear Button” bleeps out audio on the fly and a “Trash Talk” mode mutes the output to remote callers on the USB, smartphone and Bluetooth channels.

This update also includes an ASIO driver for ensuring a stable connection when using the RØDECaster Pro with DAWs such as Cubase and Adobe Audition on Windows computers. The driver is available separately on the RØDECaster Pro firmware page.

Additionally, the RØDECaster Pro now offers a selection of languages for the LED touchscreen display, including Chinese, Spanish, German, Italian, French, Japanese and Korean.

RØDE warns that the beta version should not be used for critical recording, as it is not guaranteed to be fully stable. The company can only provide limited support, but welcomes any feedback from testers.
