Kyzyl, the capital of the Republic of Tyva in the Russian Federation, has just over 100,000 inhabitants. It is located exactly in the geographical center of Asia, in the south of Western Siberia close to the Mongolian border.
The broadcasting studio was set up by Tract, a broadcast system integrator in the Russian Federation. The company has been working with AEQ on the supply and installation of equipment for a number of broadcasters, such as Russian National Radio VGRTK.
AEQ’s Capitol IP digital audio mixing console is central to the studio. The Capitol IP is an eight-channel fixed configuration mixing console. AEQ explains that a main feature of the console is that has a large input capacity: four mic/line, 12 analog, four digital stereo AES/EBU (AES3), two digital stereo USB, two optional telephone lines and optional digital multichannel audio links, as well as 16 AoIP channels over two Ethernet connectors or 64 MADI channels input via fiber optics.
Tract’s Siberian affiliate, Tract-Siberia, along with Okno-TV Siberia, supplied the necessary equipment to build the studio based around using Digispot software and the Capitol IP. Since Kyzyl is located far from Tract’s technical services in Moscow, the system was configured and started remotely by Tract’s engineers.
“It is AEQ’s Capitol IP that assumes the role of the heart of the studio,” said Andrey Burtsev, director of the Tract-Siberia affiliate. “Its functionality and ability to interact with the radio broadcast automation system made it possible in a relatively short time to establish the operation of the entire radio system and prepare the studio for broadcasting.”
