NAB to host 4th Global Next Gen Broadcasting Conference

The 2023 NAB Show will host the 4th Global Next Gen Broadcasting Conference, co-produced by the NAB and the Korea Radio Promotion Association (RAPA), on Sunday, April 16, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. PT in Room W208/209 in the Las Vegas Convention West Hall.

The NAB participated in the first iteration of the conference (originally called the Global UHD Conference) in 2017 in Seoul, hosted it at the NAB Show in 2018 and again participated when it returned to Seoul in 2019.

According to the NAB, many of the commitments discussed in the first three conferences have come to fruition. This fourth conference will celebrate those successes and set a path for future accomplishments. In addition to high-level speakers from the Korean and U.S. broadcast industries, attendees will hear from FCC Commissioner Nathan Simington and Deputy Minister at the Office of Network Policy in the Korean Ministry of Science and ICT, Jin-Bae Hong. Representatives from Brazil, India and Jamaica will also present updates on their evolutionary path to next gen broadcasting.

It’s great that we get back together to create new opportunities together, build them together, and succeed together as we are moving into the future together

RAPA Director, Industrial Development Division, Kang Ok “Jay” Jeon

NAB Executive Vice President of Technology and Chief Technology Officer Sam Matheny said, “We are honored and excited to work again with our colleagues at RAPA to produce this timely and important conference at NAB Show. Next Gen broadcasting is revolutionizing terrestrial television broadcast services around the world, and we’re pleased to collect and share those experiences for the benefit of our international audience and broadcasters everywhere.”

RAPA Director, Industrial Development Division, Kang Ok “Jay” Jeon, said, “It’s great that we get back together to create new opportunities together, build them together, and succeed together as we are moving into the future together. We will also celebrate 100 years of NAB together here in Las Vegas. The most exciting part of this gathering is that we will bring huge updates on ATSC 3.0 in Korea, the U.S., India, Brazil, the Caribbean and other key stakeholders we have not yet identified in the global community.

Admission to this conference is free to all NAB Show badge holders. You can see a list of the speakers here.
