MIW opens applications for “Behind the Mic” mentorship

Mentoring and Inspiring Women in Radio has opened applications for the fourth annual “Behind the Mic” mentorship program. The yearlong initiative supports an emerging female on-air personality through individual mentorship, industry access and career development resources.

MIW will select one woman working in a U.S.-based music format for the 2026–2027 program. Applicants must have between three and five years of experience in a local or national on-air role and be ready to take the next step in their careers.

The selected mentee will hold one-on-one conversations with experienced industry professionals throughout the year. She will also receive the opportunity to attend Radio Show 2027 in Las Vegas in April, where she can meet leaders and professionals from across the audio industry.

MIW Board President Sheila Kirby said the program draws on the organization’s network of female radio leaders. “Behind the Mic puts that strength into action by connecting rising on-air talent with women who have built remarkable careers and understand what it takes to grow and succeed in this industry,” she added.

Applications close Wednesday, Sept. 30.
