La Casa Encendida Radio gets creative with AEQ

Ángel Aranda, Coordinator of La Casa Encendida Radio

Celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, La Casa Encendida is a social and cultural center based in central Madrid.

A Spanish arts institution, it sustains a wide cultural program including performance art, film, exhibitions and other artworks designed to meet the needs of four main areas: culture, solidarity, environment and education.

With a focus on exploring radio formats from an artistic perspective, it has refurbished its radio studio with an AEQ Forum IP Split digital audio console and an AudioPlus automation system.

“We opted for a Forum Split mixer with a Dante card for AoIP interconnectivity, which allowed us to use the desk on an iMac with ProTools, as well as on the PC with AEQ automation and playout software,” said Coordinator of La Casa Encendida Radio, Ángel Aranda. “The result is a versatile radio studio that allows us to produce shows as well as record vocals for more elaborate productions.”

AEQ’s Forum IP Split mixer provides automatic monitor cut-off, cough cut-off, fader start, signaling control, control signals for the automation of external equipment and management of external communications.

With its modular design, AEQ claims the console can adapt to different scenarios. At La Casa Encendida Radio the system includes AEQ’s FR CORE modular engine in three rack units and is equipped with AES67-compatible AoIP I/O cards via Dante. This allows signals to be networked between consoles, routers and other I/O equipment from multiple manufacturers.

AEQ AudioPLUS supplies radio automation to provide a management and playout system as well as audio storage, editing and playout functionality.
