October was JOE’s TOP 2000 month. From Oct. 5 to 23, the station aired some of the biggest hits and most iconic pop classics of all time. For this year’s edition, JOE transformed the city center of Kortrijk, in western Belgium, into an interactive music stage where visitors could step into their favorite music videos.

The city tour invited listeners to swap places with music icons. “They could sit on Miley Cyrus’ ‘Wrecking Ball,’ enter the comic-book world of a-ha’s ‘Take on Me’ or imitate the leaning posture from Michael Jackson’s ‘Smooth Criminal,’” said Delphine Dehairs, press officer with DPG Media. “Each hotspot on the tour was equipped with a QR code directing visitors to the original video and tips for taking the perfect picture.”

The route also took participants to Kortrijk landmarks, including the 14th-century belfry, the city theater square and the 13th-century Beguinage, a community where independent religious women known as Beguines lived without withdrawing from society.

On Oct. 23, the station hosted a grand finale at the K in Kortrijk shopping mall. From 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., JOE DJs broadcast live on air, counting down to this year’s No. 1, Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody.” After the broadcast, JOE hosted the TOP 2000 after-work party.
