Genelec G LearningLab Hosts GLM 4 Tutorials

Genelec’s new G LearningLab educational program got underway in August with a series of tutorials focusing exclusively on the company’s GLM loudspeaker manager software.

Entitled “Six Steps to Creating Your Sonic Reference,” the training sessions are also being used to unveil GLM 4 — the newest version of the software, which the company says, is currently in a public beta test phase prior to its official global launch.

Genelec describes G LearningLab as an educational tool designed “to help the audio community better understand how to create high quality audio, and provide a more enjoyable listener experience.” It’s accessible via the Genelec website, and offers videos, tutorials, user guides, help desks and academic papers.

The GLM 4 series of tutorials began Aug. 4 and runs until Oct. 13. According to the company, the tutorials are designed to “guide attendees through every stage required to setup, calibrate and control a studio monitoring system so that it becomes a sonic reference, producing mixes that translate consistently to other rooms and playback systems.

Aimed at both current GLM users and those who want to learn more about the software and delivered in English, the company repeats each session several times during the day to accommodate different time zones. All meetings are also available on demand. The first one is available here.

The sessions cover all aspects of GLM use — from room acoustics and monitor placement, through basic and advanced GLM features, use of GLM as a System Monitor Controler. In addition, the provide a deep technical dive into how exactly GLM works. During the series, Genelec is also showcasing the new GLM 4 beta version, which, it says, now brings 64-bit compatibility, an elegant new user interface and a host of valuable new features to users of Genelec Smart Active Monitors and Subwoofers.

Audio quality is at the heart of the content creation process, so a fundamental understanding of how to equip a room with a truthful, accurate monitoring system is essential,” said Genelec Managing Director, Siamak Naghian. “G LearningLab is the culmination of over 40 years of expertise in educating our partners and end users, and I can’t think of a better way of celebrating that than by shining a spotlight on the new GLM 4, which is about to empower audio professionals with the new Sonic Reference.”

Genelec is issuing a certificate to all this who successfully complete four or more tutorials. The company will also enter those participants in a a prize draw to win a pair of Genelec RAW 8320 Smart Active Monitors and GLM kit.
