Ferncast to host free radio workflow podcasting webinar

Ferncast will host a free webinar on podcasting in radio workflows on April 7, 2022, at 12 p.m. CEST

The webinar will focus on integrating podcasting into a radio station’s workflow using aixtream. Special guest speaker will be Gernot Link from Deutschlandradio. He will explain how the German broadcaster integrated audio-on-demand encoding into its radio station workflows.

Ferncast says its audio experts will present the benefits of using aixtream software for audio-on-demand and discuss how podcasting fits into radio strategy. They will demo aixtream, a scalable software solution running as a server or VM installation, and they will be available for a live Q&A session about new developments in audio technology.

Deutschlandradio says it implemented the aixtream on-demand option in 2021 to automate the encoding for audio content delivered to its native products like the Dlf-Audiothek app and websites. The broadcaster’s three stations, Deutschlandfunk, Deutschlandfunk Kultur and Deutschlandfunk Nova, export about 300-600 audio files a day to the aixtream installations for sound processing and encoding. Deutschlandradio also delivers segmented on-demand content via HLS. Using aixtream and the availability of the xHE-AAC decoder through Android 9 and iOS 14 devices, Deutschlandradio plans to use Fraunhofer’s latest coding technologies to deliver xHE with CMAF for live and on-demand streaming.

The topics covered in this webinar also include the following:

  • Audio on-demand processing for podcasting and media libraries.
  • Audio on-demand with HLS/Dash, RTMP and CMAF.
  • Setting up audio-on-demand systems with both ingest and output.

You can register for the free Zoom webinar here. Ferncast says it will send a recording to all registrants afterward.
