Ferncast releases v3.0 of its aixtream software

Ferncast has released the latest version of its aixstream audio streaming software. Ferncast says v3.0 expands the software’s possibilities with a broad range of new functionalities and supported formats, and it lays the groundwork for even more additions coming later this year. The company claims that by the end of the year, “aixtream will be closer to the ideal of ‘any live audio’ than ever before.” As a teaser for version 3.1, Ferncast says aixstream will soon function as a pure UECP encoder.

In addition to various bug fixes and minor improvements for current features, notable elements within version 3.0 include:

A new configuration dialog for DVB Multiprotocol Encapsulation (MPE), enabling transport of IP data streams within a DVB multiplex signal.
  • Secure Reliable Transport input and output. SRT is a media transport protocol that offers streaming of media content with lower latency and greater reliability compared to similar protocols.
  • Simple network management protocol monitoring up to v3. SNMP s a widespread standard for monitoring of managed devices over IP.
  • DAB reception and transcoding.
  • DVB MPE (Multiprotocol Encapsulation ETSI EN 301 192). MPE is a technique for using MPEG TS to encapsulate IP data.
  • Internal Icecast server – aixstream can now directly receive Icecast streams instead of having to take them from the web.
  • Support for AAC ADTS (in addition to LATM/LOAS).
  • Recovery of unfinished recording files.
  • Service type for DVB configurable.
  • An update of the Recorder Group widget.
