Ferncast Releases aixtream v.2.2

Ferncast is expanding its support for legacy, modern and combined workflows with the release of aixtream v.2.2.

With this latest addition, aixtream now supports Asynchronous Serial Interface input and outputs, which can be used in  any combination. This lets users connect legacy inputs with cutting edge outputs so for example, with aixtream, they now input audio via ASI and connect it to a Dante or AES67 network without any additional hardware.

aixtream’s ASI support also features many improvements for DVB implementation. These advancements, many of which are based on customer feedback, include improved compatibility with non-Ferncast and non-compliant solutions through reverse engineering of proprietary solutions.

A third major addition this software release brings is support of LATM and LATM/LOAS AAC [Low-overhead MPEG-4 Audio Transport Multiplex and Low-overhead Audio Stream] based on MPEG-4 ISO/IEC 14496-3. These AAC stream  offer low overhead and are often used in AAC via DVB.

Additional  features of the new software include general bug fixing; support for HLS delta playlists; significant overhead reduction; enabled additional PMT entries and custom descriptors for DVB; and increased  support for automatic answering machine use cases.
