For internet radio stations, reliable delivery of programs is one of the most important goals.

Which is why Ferncast, a specialist in audio transmission and audio streaming technologies for radio and broadcasting, is hosting a free webinar to help keep internet stations on air. The company says its “Reliable transmission for audio contribution and distribution” seminar will present different concepts and methods for audio contribution to the encoder as well as distribution to listeners.

“We will review approaches like RTP and SRT which are mostly useful for the contribution side,” said Ferncast CEO and Founder Detlef Wiese. “There are also streaming protocols like HLS, Icecast and Ybrid that, on the other hand, directly address the listeners. All these variants will be discussed with regard to reliable transmission, while a detailed focus will then be given to HLS and its failover mechanisms.”

The company, who announced version 2.5 of its aixtream audio streaming, playout and broadcasting solution last month, is holding the 45 minute seminar on Tuesday, May 24 at 10 a.m. CET. Speakers will include Ferncast’s Senior Audio Engineer Bernd Geiser, Senior Software Engineers Thomas Schlien, and Documentation and Support Engineer Tobias Dornbush.
