Data from the latest Edison Research “Share of Ear” study shows that Americans do most of their podcast listening between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., with this period accounting for 29% of total daily podcast consumption.
The findings, shared ahead of the full Q3 2025 “Share of Ear” release, indicate that Americans aged 13 and older now spend 10% of their total daily audio time listening to podcasts. Early morning hours, between 6 a.m. and 10 a.m., follow closely at 24%, while the mid-afternoon slot from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. makes up 21% of all podcast listening.
Listening drops off later in the day, but Edison notes that podcast consumption doesn’t disappear overnight. Around 11% of listening occurs between 10 p.m. and 2 a.m., and 3% between 2 a.m. and 6 a.m., reflecting diverse schedules and on-demand habits.
Edison’s quarterly “Share of Ear” report tracks how Americans allocate their daily audio time across platforms, devices and formats. Edison says the Q3 2025 dataset will be available to subscribers next week.
