Edison Research launches podcast metrics in U.K.

Edison Research has announced that it is to launch Edison Podcast Metrics in the United Kingdom. The company made the announcement at the Podcast Show 2023 in London.

Edison Podcast Metrics is not dependent on podcast download data, nor is it a service that podcast networks must opt into. The service surveys thousands of weekly podcast listeners each quarter and collects listening behavior regardless of the listening platform. Edison Research has tracked podcast consumption since 2006 and released its Top Podcast Shows ranker in the United States in November 2019.

The Edison Podcast Metrics survey research is underway now in the U.K.; data from Q2 2023 will be available for subscribers sometime in Q3. Using the same methodology as that in the U.S., the company will include a minimum of 2,000 weekly U.K. podcast listeners in the U.K. aged 15 or older in each quarterly survey. Edison Research says data from Edison Podcast Metrics will provide show-level information on the top podcasts in the U.K. and network reach statistics. Subscribers can analyze the demographics of podcast listeners, including their purchasing and consumption patterns across a wide range of consumer goods and services.

“We are incredibly enthusiastic about expanding Edison Podcast Metrics to the U.K.,” said Melissa Kiesche, Edison Research senior vice president. “We have seen how beneficial the data has been to those in the podcast industry in the U.S., and we are looking forward to seeing the thriving podcast community in the U.K. take advantage of this research.”
