DRM Incorporates Smart Radio Events

DRM has redesigned its “Smart Radio Accessible to All” hybrid event that was initially set to include a Dec. 4 livestream event from Nautel’s stand at IBC2021 at RAI in Amsterdam. Nautel has now withdrawn from IBC2021.

DRM will now have the one event — on Dec. 1, midday to 3 p.m. UTC (1 p.m. – 4 p.m. CET). It will still be virtual and free, but incorporate elements of the second, cancelled, event.

The now bigger Dec. 1 virtual event will highlight the practical advances of DRM in various parts of the world. The focus will be on the recent tests and improvements to the DRM performance, equipment, and receivers. New and current Consortium members will give a global view of DRM and answer any questions on DRM’s progress in 2021.

DRM will also announce new developments.

Consortium chairman Ruxandra Obreja says that DRM is expanding and giving more weight to the pre-IBC DRM event to compensate for the cancellation of the live-streamed Nautel-hosted DRM event. He adds the Dec. 1 event will be a recap of the great activities of 2020-2021 and a good starting point for next year’s decisions and steps. “DRM is more attractive and in tune now with the needs of the world than ever, with its energy and spectrum cost savings and extra features and possibilities like delivering education and emergency warnings.”
