DPG Launches Joe Lage Landen

VIVLOORDE, Belgium — On June 14, DPG Media launched a new thematic DAB+ channel, focusing on Dutch-language music, featuring Flemish and Dutch artists and their biggest hits.

Joe Lage Landen launched on June 14 by playing “Ik wil je” (“I want you”) by the Kreuners.

“With ‘Joe Lage Landen’ (‘Joe Low Countries,’ referring to Flanders and the Netherlands), we are the only national broadcaster, both on DAB+ and online, offering a 24/7 Dutch-language music programming,” said Robin Vissenaekens, channel manager with Joe.

Singer Bart Peeters took the helm on Joe Lage Landen during the station’s launch.

“With our digital radio channels, we go more into music and entertainment, reaching out to an ‘unserved audience’ in today’s radio landscape. The enthusiasm with both big-name artists and upcoming talent is great, but our main ambassadors are the Joe listeners,” Vissenaekens said.

The launch of the new channel was backed by two weeks of artists taking over Joe’s playlist between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. During this time, artists like Bart Peeters, Raymond van het Groenewoud and (Dutch top singer) Marco Borsato took the helm on Joe Lage Landen.
