DHD marks 30 years with AI tools and firmware updates at NAB Show

DHD.audio said it used the 2026 NAB Show in Las Vegas to mark the company’s 30th anniversary while presenting new firmware capabilities, AI-based audio enhancement and expanded remote workflow tools across its broadcast product portfolio.

The Leipzig-based company said it saw strong interest in its range of consoles and processing systems during the April event, where it demonstrated Firmware 10.4 running on its DX2, RX2, SX2 and TX2 mixing consoles and processing cores. DHD also introduced AI-based audio noise reduction, now available as an option for the DHD XD3 IP core.

Christoph Gottert, international sales manager at DHD.audio, said the company found U.S. broadcasters facing many of the same pressures as radio operators in other markets. “NAB 2026 confirmed the experience we gained in 2025 that U.S. broadcasters have the same aspirations as their colleagues around the world to maintain their competitive edge in the fast-evolving electronic media marketplace,” he said.

Gottert added that one of the strongest themes at this year’s show was the search for practical AI applications that can be deployed safely in everyday broadcast operations. “The key trend this year is the ongoing search for reliable, safe and secure applications of AI. Our demonstrations of AI-based audio enhancement attracted strong interest for its ability to remove distracting background noise from incoming feeds such as OB commentaries.” Developed with ai-coustics, the AI-based audio enhancement is now available on a license basis for new and existing XD3 modules. DHD said processing intensity can be adjusted locally at a mixing console or remotely, with three stereo instances able to run in parallel on a single XD3 core.

The company also used NAB to introduce its RM1 Pro to the U.S. market. Developed from the entry-level RM1, the compact desktop production unit is designed for remote and onsite contribution, live news workflows, web radio and podcasting, with secure IP connectivity allowing remote fader control between systems.

Firmware 10.4 adds three new configuration tools — Flex Channels, Mic Preamp Control and Channel Categories — as well as several API-focused features, including a new control API for DHD AES67 interfaces, a Bitfocus Companion plug-in for the Elgato Stream Deck and new TypeScript and Go libraries for third-party software integration.

“Last but not least, we introduced to the U.S. market the DHD Routing Web App,” Gottert said. “This allows incoming sources and output ports to be securely assigned, viewed and managed by a nominated operator situated locally or remotely.”
