Cumulus Media’s Sommer Frisk recognized by Ventura Chamber of Commerce

The Ventura Chamber of Commerce in California, in the United States, will honor businesses and individuals for their contributions to the local community at its Poinsettia Awards luncheon on Dec. 11. The event, now in its 28th year, recognizes achievements in business, public service and education. Cumulus Media says Sommer Frisk, vice president and market manager for Cumulus Oxnard/Ventura, has been named the chamber’s Shining Star of the Year.

According to Cumulus Media, Frisk’s work in 2025 focused on deeper engagement with Ventura County through partnerships with local businesses and nonprofits. The company says she supported more than 40 community organizations and several hundred advertisers during the year, including through her involvement with the Ventura Chamber of Commerce and the Network of Champions business group.

Cumulus Media says Frisk helped reintroduce KHAY Fest, a local country music event, hosted by KHAY-FM, held at Camarillo Airport and headlined by Justin Moore, with proceeds benefiting FoodShare and Ventura County first responders. The company adds that she and her team worked with Vitalant on a Veterans Day blood drive and supported local events featuring artists such as Kane Brown and Ziggy Marley. According to Cumulus Media, she also collaborated on initiatives to boost downtown business activity, including the CA & Main Summer Stomp and Movies at the Mission.

The company says Frisk also played a role in completing the Red Mountain Emergency Alert System auxiliary antenna project, which provides backup communications capability for Ventura County during emergencies.
