CBC chooses Densitron, again

Densitron, Canadian Broadcasting Corp., broadcast control and ID system

Though probably not a familiar name to most broadcasters, control systems developer Densitron, was recently called upon for a control and display system for the Canadian Broadcasting Corp.

A few years ago the CBC faced the challenge of identifying an accessible control and display solution that could provide countdowns, timers and other essential studio messaging to on-air talent and production personnel at its Montreal studios. CBC says that the Densitron deployment is so successful that it will soon roll it out at the broadcaster’s facilities in Toronto.

Densitron boffins integrated its IDS control and content display into the CBC’s native Lawo control system and Ember+ command protocol. The installed system is radio- and TV-agnostic.

CBC/Radio-Canada Chief Engineer Lysanne Pinard noted, “Along with its flexibility of integration into new and existing infrastructures, the combination of Densitron IDS and TFT touchscreens has long provided us with the reliable and flexible approach to studio and production messaging and display that we require at CBC. We have developed a really good partnership with the team at Densitron, and we look forward to continuing that when we begin work on a similar deployment in Toronto.”
