BYD has selected Xperi’s DTS AutoStage as the exclusive in-car media platform for its future vehicles across major international markets, expanding the reach of the hybrid radio and entertainment platform to one of the world’s largest electric vehicle manufacturers.
The agreement will see DTS AutoStage deployed in BYD vehicles sold across Europe, Asia-Pacific, Latin America, the Middle East and Africa, with launches planned from the fourth quarter of 2026 or earlier. BYD becomes the 14th automotive manufacturer to adopt the platform, which Xperi said is already available in more than 16 million vehicles across more than 150 countries.
DTS AutoStage combines broadcast radio, IP-delivered audio services and in-vehicle video entertainment in a single interface. Depending on vehicle model, region and configuration, the platform supports hybrid radio, audio streaming and automotive-optimized video services designed to improve content discovery while minimizing driver distraction.
Jeff Jury, senior vice president and general manager of immersive entertainment at Xperi, said the agreement reflects growing demand for connected in-car entertainment. “As the automotive cockpit becomes a ‘third space’ where consumers expect seamless access to the entertainment content they care about, we are excited to partner with BYD to provide a comprehensive solution to their customers,” he said.
Chris Lang, general manager of Xperi Greater China, argued that Chinese automakers are increasingly competing on the in-car experience as they expand globally. “DTS AutoStage enables companies like BYD to deliver consistent, premium in-car media experiences across markets while helping their vehicles stand out to consumers worldwide,” he said.
BYD said the platform aligns with its strategy of delivering intelligent, connected vehicle experiences. “DTS AutoStage enables us to offer premium audio and video content discovery that aligns with our vision for innovation and connectivity, providing BYD owners with an engaging and rich entertainment experience,” the company said.
