France: Arcom announces strategy to 2025

Arcom's President, Roch-Olivier Maistre

Arcom, France’s independent audiovisual and digital communications regulator, has released its strategy for the next three years. Arcom’s President, Roch-Olivier Maistre, says the aim is to “build the audiovisual and digital communications regulation of tomorrow.” He says the authority’s project has four main objectives: To protect the public better, help transform the audiovisual and digital sector, contribute to European regulation, and continue modernizing its functioning.

Maistre adds that Arcom wishes to work toward a trusted audiovisual and digital environment through education and encouraging limiting the environmental impact of the audiovisual and digital actors. Arcom also wants to “promote the competitiveness and pluralism of audiovisual and digital actors,” particularly by supporting the deployment of DAB+.

“Through digital, radio has entered a new technological, economic and media era. It is now essential that Arcom accompanies the sector in this revolution,” said Hervé Godechot, chairman of Arcom’s radio and digital audio working group.
