Radio Santa María de Toledo — a diocesan radio broadcaster serving the Catholic community in Toledo, a historic city in central Spain — said it has completed a full technical infrastructure renewal as part of a move to a new headquarters. The broadcaster operates alongside Canal Diocesano de TV, a regional Catholic television channel also based in Toledo.
Radio Santa María de Toledo said the upgrade replaces systems that had remained largely unchanged since its founding in 1993. The new installation centers on a Dante-based audio-over-IP network managed by an AEQ NetBox 32 MX matrix, allowing shared audio routing across radio and TV studios. The installation includes three AEQ Forum IP consoles for on-air and production work, and an AEQ Capitol IP console. A Systel IP 16 system provides up to 16 VoIP lines with Dante and AES-67 compatibility, enabling call-in programs and cross-studio coordination.
A long overdue move
Francisco Requena, technical director for Radio Santa María de Toledo, said the move was long overdue. “Thanks to the technical and human support of AEQ, a Dante network has been installed that allows radio and television to be interconnected with the same audio signal, facilitating all audio traffic between different radio and TV studios,” Requena said.
Requena added that the station continues to use its existing audio codecs in the new environment. He said the devices maintain high-quality communication with low latency, IP-protocol support and full remote control.
AEQ said the project allows the broadcaster to unify audio flows for radio and television, streamline technical operations, and modernize production workflows. The company oversaw the installation on-site to ensure compatibility with the broadcaster’s operational needs.
Radio Santa María de Toledo said the renovation strengthens its ability to serve its audience with local religious, cultural and community programming, while laying the foundation for more flexible, multi-platform production in the future.
