Acast spreading wings in Spain

Over the past few months, Acast has established on-the-ground operations in Spain. This follows two years of developing its Spanish-language podcast offering in Mexico.

The company says that of the EU5 countries — France, Italy, Germany, Spain and the United Kingdom — Spain leads the way in podcast listening. It quotes eMarketer’s figures that 30% of internet users in Spain listen to podcasts at least once per month.

It says its network of podcasts receives more than three million listens in Spain every month and is home to a wide range of popular Spanish-language shows, including Ted en EspañolLibros para EmprendedoresRelatos de la NocheReloadMemorias de Pez and Se Regalan Dudas.

Acast says categories like business and health and wellness tend to be the most popular with Spanish listeners and English-language news podcasts such as the BBC’s Global New Podcast and The Intelligence from The Economist.
