ABU DBS 2021 Goes Virtual

The ABU Digital Broadcasting Symposium 2021 will take place online, April 5–8. Organized by the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union, the symposium is an event for broadcasters in the region and beyond. This year’s theme is “Inspire, Engage & Enhance.”

It will comprise a four-day conference with a total of 12 sessions, one workshop on each day and an exhibition also lasting four days. The conference sessions will focus on topics of strong interest to broadcasters. The topics include advanced technologies, business strategies, content security, AI and big data applications and digital radio rollout.

DBS 2020 took place just days before Malaysia went into lockdown.

It is free to participate either as an attendee or a conference speaker.

The annual event usually takes place in Kuala Lumpur, but due to the ongoing global pandemic, it has been moved to completely online. DBS 2020 took place just days before Malaysia went into lockdown.

The symposium’s main role is to help broadcasters make a smooth digital transition and showcase the latest range of technologies available to them. When DBS was launched in 2005, a lot of Asian broadcasters had not yet started going digital. Many have now completed the process and others are still doing so. The symposium has shared that journey with them, growing along the way.
