A rare IBC occurrence

It’s commonplace for a company serving the broadcast sector to use an event such as the IBC to shine the spotlight on a new product or service. It is, however, rare for a company to introduce attendees to an entirely new class of products. At IBC2022, Ferncast will do just that.

Over a relatively short period — a little more than four years — the company has established a reputation for reliable and forward-thinking software-based audio streaming, broadcasting and recording solutions. At first, the company focused on serving broadcasters in its native Germany but has now expanded further within Europe and across into the Asia-Pacific region.

Innovation in broadcasting technology can come in many forms. Sometimes it can be ground-breaking or format-defining, but such dramatic leaps can risk all the challenges of the untested. Sometimes though, innovation is simply smart thinking. Ferncast’s new product class falls firmly into this genus.

Its Audio Codec Servers combine the advantages of its aixtream compact software and the flexibility and full scalability of server installation with the convenience of traditional hardware boxes. Technophiles may celebrate all things digital, but feel comfortable with a screwdriver close at hand. They get the cloud, but believe some of the best things still come in boxes.

As we’ve covered previously, Ferncast’s new product class features 48 ACS products with six form factors for up to eight fields of application. That covers just about possible permutation.
